Late summer goodies!

It's August already and it seems like 2024 has just flown right by. This year we planted a decent-sized garden and it has turned out well! We're likely to be buried under sugar pumpkins and summer squash very soon. The peas did well, though not great. They were planted to grow up the corn stalks instead of needing to give them a trellis but they grew faster than the corn did. Next year I'll plant the corn earlier and hold the peas for a couple weeks. When I do plant them, I will put them in the outside rows of corn for easier harvesting. The tomatoes are growing like crazy and just started to flower. I did find some volunteer beefsteak-type tomatoes growing in the back of the muck pile... We'll just have to wash those well. The blue coco pole beans would have done better if I had made sure they had something to climb on right away. They sort of grabbed onto each other and made a loose mat of vines that is difficult to harvest from. The carrots, onions, chives, and other smaller things are testing my patience - I'm not very good at waiting!

🥧There are only so many pies I can make and freeze for two people so I'm willing to sell the excess pumpkins so you can have fresh, homemade pumpkin pie on your Thanksgiving table! I'm also willing to prep and freeze pumpkin pies so all you have to do is pop them into the oven!

🍐We have also been lucky enough to get pears two years in a row! If you're interested in fresh pears, please reach out through the website or on Facebook! We plan to process as many of the pears as possible via water bath canning. Since I am not an expert canner, I am hesitant to offer those for sale. I would prefer that you take your pears and DIY! Our pears are green and range quite a bit in size. They are not sprayed for any sort of bugs or diseases. They're just good, natural fruits.

🥛If you're interested in milk, please let me know! We're getting over a gallon every day and our youngest kid is now eight weeks old! They're still happily drinking my excess milk but don't need it. If you're interested in three whethers or a registered Mini Alpine doeling, please let me know! They all need homes before December or they will go in the freezer. Sweet little Annie is way too cute to be packaged and frozen!! 🐐
